A Seashore Getaway South of the Border
A favorite weekend seashore getaway is the small fishing village of San Felipe, which is on Mexico's Gulf of California. The fastest way to get there from San Diego is to take I-8 East 120 miles to Mexicali. From there it's about 125 miles South on the well-maintained two-lane Federal Hwy. 5. Be sure to get Mexican auto insurance, because your U.S. policy is not valid in Mexico.
